Paralegal
Allegacy Federal Credit Union is committed to the wellbeing of its members and is seeking a Paralegal to support its legal affairs. The role involves reviewing legal documents, managing vendor compliance, and assisting with regulatory requirements while working closely with the Chief Legal Officer.

Responsibilities
Independently review and validate trusts, powers of attorney, deeds, and divorce documents for completeness and compliance with credit union requirements, escalating legal interpretation issues to the Chief Legal Officer as appropriate
Assist with the review and drafting of all contracts and other legal documentation
Manage third-party vendor files and compliance using Nvendor software (training provided if needed). Exercise significant autonomy in identifying and resolving vendor-related compliance issues
Maintain accurate records of correspondence and legal documents, including contracts
Prepare legal documents and assist with policy drafting and implementation as needed
Maintain accurate records of all policies
Serve as a resource for internal staff across departments and, on occasion, coordinate with outside counsel on specific matters
Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes affecting the credit union and its subsidiaries. Provide regular summaries or reports as requested
Support compliance with NCUA regulations, and applicable federal laws (e.g., GLBA, privacy, vendor due diligence expectations)
Assist with examination support, including document collection and regulatory requests
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Strong attention to detail
Excellent drafting, proofreading, and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks, workload and manage time in a fast-paced environment
Sound business acumen and critical thinking skills
Ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization and influence others to accept approaches and practices
Self-sufficiency in performing administrative tasks
Understand and comply with all legal and ethical principles
Ability to manage conflicting deadlines tied to business needs and regulatory requirements
Accountability for accuracy, timeliness, and escalation of risk
Associate or Bachelor's degree
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in an in-house corporate law department and/or law firm, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred
Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and their practical applications in legal research, document review, or workflow automation
North Carolina paralegal certification
Experience in real estate and estate planning
Experience with contract management platforms
