Responsibilities
Provide on-call technical and application support for MRI sites, including Emory Healthcare and Grady Health System
Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to ensure effective MRI protocol implementation, operational workflow, safety, education, and high-quality patient care
Install, maintain, and update standardized MR protocols and sequences; oversee image quality; troubleshoot artifacts; and improve operational efficiency
Facilitate ongoing TJC and ACR compliance, through annual system surveys, image quality review, and technologist’s weekly QA/QC program oversight
Partner with administrative and physician leaders to develop and implement system-wide quality and safety policies and procedures. Serve as an MRI safety expert resource for technologists and radiologists
Interface with MRI system vendors to document downtime, guide effective applications training, and explore collaborative project opportunities
Advise Department about new system technology, upgrades, purchases, and siting
Deliver MR physics education, training, and mentorship to imaging physics and medical residents; develop educational resources and sessions for technologists and radiologists
Pursue personal research interests through collaboration with other scientists and staff, including in-house quality improvement projects; partake in regional and national committees and conferences; educational endeavors within the department, as well as professional development activities
Qualification
Required
PhD in medical physics or related physical sciences or engineering discipline
Experience and knowledge of MRI physics principles, including clinical applications, safety, and compliance testing
Experience with MRI technology and system operation for GE and Siemens, including protocol and sequence optimization
Strong communication and time management skills; motivated, flexible and collaborative
Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP)
Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments
