Research Scientist - Comprehensive Cancer Center

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join the Yang Lab focused on tumor immunology and immunotherapy. The successful candidate will lead research projects, develop new methodologies, and collaborate with a vibrant research community to advance the understanding of immune responses in cancer.

Responsibilities

Lead projects using state-of-the-art techniques such as CRISPR screening, multi-omics, high-parameter flow cytometry, in vivo models, and translational studies
Function as an expert and resource in cancer genetics research
Conceptualizes, designs, implements, evaluates, and directs research with regard to cancer
Develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods
Develops hypothesis and experimental approach to hypothesis testing
Participates as a team member in conference with researchers to interpret data and discuss project progress
Collaborates with other researchers in determining research priorities and planning programs of research
Develops, writes and submits grant proposals of original research as principal investigator to extramural funding agencies
Administers grants and directs and manages grant budgets
Troubleshoots problems and advises staff and researchers on new technology and trends in molecular biology
Develops and conducts educational workshops, lectures and seminars
Manages and oversees the selection and design of research methodologies used for data analysis and establishes procedures
Performs research for new methods and makes recommendations regarding research procedures
Keeps up to date with relevant published literature
Develops and writes research manuscripts, articles, and abstracts
Writes project reports and presents ongoing work and findings at academic and international conferences
Supervises graduate students and other members of staff
Trains junior investigators, post doctoral researchers, graduate students and technicians within laboratory

Required

Doctorate (Academic) or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field; extensive experience in a research capacity required
Demonstrated ability to be a competent and productive researcher i.e. incumbent will have authored several publications of considerable interest and value to the field as evidenced by favorable reviews, by citation in the work of others, by presentations of papers to professional societies, and/or will have contributed inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important applied problems
Experience with mouse models, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques
