Senior Mortgage Underwriter

Responsibilities
Help grow the Farm Bureau Mortgage brand
Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, credit reports, income, assets, and property appraisals
Ensure loans meet company, investor, FHA, VA, and other agency guidelines
Determine creditworthiness and risk level of applicants
Identify potential fraud or compliance issues and escalate as needed
Approve, suspend, or decline loans based on underwriting standards
Communicate decisions and conditions clearly to loan officers and processors
Maintain adherence to federal and state regulations, including TRID and HMDA
Respond to audits and quality control reviews promptly
Mentor junior underwriters and assist with training
Work closely with processing, closing, and sales teams to resolve complex scenarios
Utilize Loan Origination Systems for accurate documentation
Prepare reports for management as required
Maintain a tickler system
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have a minimum of five (5) years Mortgage Loan Underwriting experience with mortgage products, including conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans
Preferred
Leadership experience a plus
