La Sierra University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time faculty position as Director of Bands. The successful candidate will conduct ensembles, teach courses, advise students, and engage in service activities to support the department's goals.

Responsibilities

Conducting the La Sierra University Wind Ensemble and Brass Ensemble
Teaching undergraduate and performer’s certificate courses
Advising undergraduate students
Assisting with applied area instrumental recruiting efforts
Organizing at least three concerts per school year
Organizing and leading a regional High School Band Festival every other year
Pursuing an ongoing scholarship and/or performance program

Qualification

ConductingTeaching experienceMaster’s Degree in ConductingDoctoral Degree in ConductingResearch skillsService participationCollegial relationship

Required

Master's Degree in Conducting
Significant teaching experience at the undergraduate level
Teaching and research record lasting at least five years for associate professor rank

Preferred

Doctoral Degree in Wind Band Conducting
Preference will be given to candidates who are Seventh-day Adventist
