Responsibilities

Lead through influence and closely collaborate with key partners within and outside E+ES and Caterpillar – Internal Caterpillar manufacturing partners, suppliers, external contract manufacturers, Motor Development teams, Procurement, Lifecycle Management, and Global Dealer Service
Lead a team of engineers in organizing, prioritizing, and managing Product Health initiatives for induction motors, switched reluctance motors, generators, and resistor grids supporting various Caterpillar machine products
Resolve production issues impacting product quality, velocity, and cost objectives
Own and manage product cost for the aforementioned products – identifying, evaluating, leading, and/or supporting cost management initiatives
Prioritize and manage Assurance of Supply risk for key Tier 1 and Tier 2 components
Support key motor aftermarket initiatives related to motor overhaul procedures and TCO optimization
Oversee high visibility projects and communicate status with stakeholders and participating functional areas
Direct project prioritization and provide guidance on resource needs, both budget and staffing
Motivate and develop/mentor less experienced team members

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related curriculum
Experience and knowledge of electric machines and/or drives; ability to design, develop, and manufacture products, technologies, and services
Successfully delivers complex projects
Develops organizational standards and processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
Oversees the management and prioritization of multiple projects and workstreams
Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design, development, or manufacturing problems
Adapts quickly to changing circumstances and goals, providing flexible solution sets
Understands and manages appropriate Intellectual Property protection
Collaborates effectively up, down, and sideways inside and outside of the organization
Extensive experience and knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization
Communicates complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner so that others can understand
Effectively manages activities and maintains strong working relationships with numerous engaged groups – team members, suppliers, external contract manufacturers, internal manufacturing partners, purchasing, and adjacent engineering teams
Exhibits depth and breadth of knowledge, skill, and experience in the electric machine and drive field
Provides others with information, opportunities, or resources to develop their own expertise and skills
Supports their recommendations through a facts-and-data based approach with sound reasoning and logic
Coaches others to enhance their proficiency regarding the tenets, practices, and examples of the 'trusted advisor' credential
Knowledge of and experience with effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives
Champions E+ES's project management methodology, tools, and techniques
Manages multiple projects involving multiple stakeholders
Balances needs and priorities across diverse product lines
Coaches others in open communication among project stakeholders
Monitors major projects for critical path and actual versus planned execution
Consults on project planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects
Extensive experience and knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form, manage, and improve effective teams
Defines team initiatives and priorities and works with team members to align resources to these activities
Brings projects to closure and uses lessons learned to continuously improve the team

Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining the resolution approach
Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems
