Responsibilities
Collaborate with sample entry and laboratory teams as well as processing and food safety personnel to review/update sanitation practices
Test Finished Product as prescribed by Corporate for Dry and Specialty Pet production areas
Participate and achieve successful results on the quarterly bacteriological Salmonella and General Microbiology collaboratives
Serve as a qualified Biosafety Advisor (BSA) by maintaining compliance to Biosafety GI and following various corporate guidance documents
Maintain and administer Internal Control Plan and QMS for the Bacti Lab, including maintenance and verification of adequacy of all Bacteriology lab equipment, calibrations, and ensuring hygienic lab conditions
Initiate workflow of samples entered into laboratory information management system
Prepare and label test portion containers appropriate for analyses to be performed
Select and execute comminution and reduction of samples into representative test portions appropriate for analyses to be performed
Maintain sample retention to assure sustained integrity throughout storage life
Qualification
Required
2+ years working in a quality, food manufacturing, laboratory, military or related environment
2-year degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, or related field with applicable lab experience
