Responsibilities

Work with other engineers to complete drawings, models, and other TDP documentation by interfacing with other non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to properly capture and document complex detailed designs and large assemblies
Prepare technical justification analysis reports, was/is documentation and present to a variety of Engineering Review Boards
Communicate with cross-functional engineering team members and suppliers to design, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements to peers, leadership (ERB/CCB), and customers
Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible design authority
Application of geometric and tolerancing best practices will be a critical skill set to be successful in this position
Application of design for manufacturing and assembly best practices will be a critical skill set to be successful in this position
Perform work in proprietary spaces may be required based on program assignment
Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed

Required

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 6+ years of experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience
Experience in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Secret - Current

Preferred

Five (5) years of professional experience within Defense and/or Aerospace Industry
Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in engineering drawing practices and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
Ability to work in teams or independently; flexible, motivated and demonstrating initiative
Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development
Experience with RCCA, FMECA and DFMA practices
Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of complex scope and complexity
Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
