Responsibilities

Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to healthcare data exchange and interoperability

Design and validate HL7 message structures (v2.x, v3, FHIR) for integration between EMR/EHR systems, laboratory systems, and other healthcare applications

Collaborate with technical teams to ensure accurate mapping of data elements and compliance with HL7 standards

Conduct gap analysis and propose solutions for integration challenges

Perform testing and validation of HL7 interfaces, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing

Troubleshoot HL7 message issues and coordinate resolution with vendors and internal teams

Lead and manage integration projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget

Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies

Facilitate stakeholder meetings, status updates, and risk assessments

Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) and organizational standards

Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, QA, vendors, and clinical staff

Create detailed functional specifications, interface design documents, and workflow diagrams

Maintain project documentation including requirements traceability and change management logs

Provide regular progress reports to leadership and stakeholders
