FORTIFIED Compliance Auditing Intern

The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is seeking interns to join their team this summer. The role involves evaluating the compliance of the FORTIFIED provider network through a structured program, including making mystery customer calls and analyzing the results to improve service quality.

Responsibilities

Evaluate the consistency, professionalism, and ethics of the FORTIFIED provider network through a structured 'secret shopper' compliance program
Using an approved script, the intern places mystery customer calls to a cross-section of evaluators, roofing contractors, builders, and designers
Calls Validate Whether Providers follow appropriate talking points, clearly explain FORTIFIED levels, provide accurate inspection/verification expectations, uphold the Code of Ethics, and offer fair, transparent consumer guidance
The intern logs responses, scores compliance, and identifies opportunities for quality improvement
Key Deliverables include a call-log database (minimum ~150–200 calls), compliance scorecard for each provider, thematic analysis identifying misunderstandings, process gaps, training needs, regional inconsistencies, and provider communication templates recommending corrective messages, if needed, and an executive-level summary report with recommendations for network coaching, program quality improvements, and updates to agreements/standards, if warranted

Applicants should be authorized to work in the US
All positions are located on site, five days/week at the named location
This is approximately a 10-week program working 40 hours/week
Ability to commute/relocate to Tampa, FL reliably
