Environment, Health and Safety Manager
FPC-Troy is partnering with a long-established U.S. manufacturing operation within a global recycling and specialty metals organization to identify an Environment, Health & Safety Manager. This role involves leading health and safety initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement within a large, complex plant environment.
Responsibilities
Serve as the site’s primary safety leader and coach, supporting supervisors and employees in maintaining a strong, practical safety culture
Lead site safety meetings and co-chair the Safety Committee
Conduct incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analyses, and follow through on corrective actions
Perform facility risk assessments, PPE evaluations, and safety reviews for new or modified processes
Maintain a regular presence on the plant floor to observe work practices and reinforce expectations
Manage site environmental programs related to air, water, and waste
Oversee compliance associated with a Title V air permit, including reporting, recordkeeping, and regulatory interaction
Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation to local, state, and federal agencies
Coordinate inspections, audits, and permit renewals in partnership with corporate EHS
Maintain accurate records and ensure timely, compliant submittals
Partner with operations and engineering on projects with safety or environmental impact
Support internal and corporate HSE audits, including participation at other facilities as needed
Manage environmental and safety vendors, consultants, and contractors
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts without over-engineering processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or a related field
3–5+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or heavy industry; metals, recycling, chemical, or similar environments preferred
Working knowledge of Title V air permitting and environmental compliance
Strong foundation in OSHA compliance and incident prevention
Ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels of a plant organization
Comfortable working in an industrial environment with PPE, noise, and variable temperatures
Preferred
CSP, CHMM, or similar certification is a plus, but not required
