Director, Underwriting - Community Finance (Affordable Housing)

Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and oversight for the underwriting and portfolio management team
Partner with business and credit risk management to foster an environment of open dialogue around risk tolerance and credit appetite
Lead underwriting and portfolio management approvals, ensuring alignment with Capital One’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements
Drive innovation and process improvements in underwriting, risk management, and portfolio management
Cultivate a positive work environment by ensuring all team members are properly challenged and motivated, inspired and play an integral role in the team’s productivity through an effective and equitable allocation of assignments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or military experience
At least 10 years of experience in underwriting, asset management, portfolio management or any combination of the three in the field of affordable housing or commercial real estate
Preferred
Master's degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
Experience in construction lending, LIHTC investment, syndication, or asset management
3+ years of people leadership experience
Proven ability to lead teams and complex problem solving skills
