Set and Exhibit Designers - AI Trainer (Contract)
Handshake is recruiting Set and Exhibit Professionals for an hourly, temporary AI research project that does not require AI experience. The role involves evaluating AI models, developing prompts, and providing feedback based on professional experience in set and exhibit design.

Responsibilities
Develop set designs based on evaluation of scripts, budgets, research, and available locations
Prepare rough drafts and scale working drawings of sets including floor plans, scenery, and props
Create preliminary renderings of proposed exhibits with construction details, layout, material specifications, and diagrams for elements such as lighting or special effects
Review scripts to determine location, set, and design requirements
Submit design plans for approval and revise to align with creative intent, budget constraints, or fabrication limitations
Attend rehearsals and production meetings to share and gather set-related information
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define exhibit space requirements, themes, timelines, budgets, materials, and promotional needs
Research architectural and stylistic elements appropriate to the depicted time period, consulting subject matter experts as needed
Observe sets during rehearsals to ensure designs support performance requirements such as cast movement and camera angles
Coordinate with lighting and sound teams to ensure production elements align with set designs or exhibit layouts
Select set props including furniture, artwork, lighting, and decorative elements
Design and construct scale models or miniatures for filming, backgrounds, or special effects
Review exhibit objects to determine optimal placement and display methods
Assign and oversee staff responsible for sketches, illustrations, detailed drawings, graphics, or animations
Inspect installed sets or exhibits to ensure conformance with specifications and proper operation of special-effects elements
Estimate costs related to sets or exhibits including materials, construction, rentals, and locations
Plan for location-specific considerations such as space constraints, traffic flow, and safety requirements
Source or coordinate acquisition of specimens, props, or graphics required to complete exhibits
Design and produce decorative displays and materials for windows, interior spaces, events, streets, or fairgrounds
Direct and coordinate construction, installation, and decoration activities to meet design, budget, and schedule requirements
Coordinate transportation and on-site installation of sets built off-site
Collaborate with conservators to manage environmental factors such as lighting, temperature, and humidity to protect objects and enhance exhibits
Select and purchase lumber, hardware, and materials required for construction
Engage and manage external contractors for exhibit or set construction
Integrate security systems into set and exhibit layouts
Coordinate removal and teardown of sets, props, and exhibits following productions or events
Produce and supply supporting materials such as press kits, promotional assets, posters, brochures, catalogs, and invitations
Qualification
Required
You have at least 4 years of professional experience in one or more of the following types of work
Develop set designs based on evaluation of scripts, budgets, research, and available locations
