Responsibilities

Responsible for the fair and accurate disposition of property claims by determining coverage, applying policy terms and conditions, determining damages, and negotiating settlements
Coordinates the investigation and settlement of large and/or complex homeowners and commercial claims assigned to independent adjusters
Determines the likely cause of loss and damages of large losses according to company guidelines
Monitors the submission of supporting claim information from the independent adjusters, vendors, experts, and attorneys
Reviews the policy to determine coverage and issues denials when appropriate
Reviews reports and estimates for accuracy and approves settlement requests from independent adjusters
Provides periodic reports and authority request to management
Issues claim settlement checks
Coordinates the investigation and disposal of salvage
Investigates and prepares claims for subrogation recovery
Maintains current diary on all claims
Reviews independent adjusters’ reports and estimates for accuracy
Attends mediations, reference hearings and trials as company representative
Performs other activities as directed

Qualification

Property claims experienceAutomated claim systemCPCU certificationAIC certificationIndependent work

Required

College degree or commensurate insurance experience required
Ability to work independently to resolve large and/or complex property claims
5+ years of experience settling first party homeowners' & commercial claims required
Experience using an automated claim system required

CPCU and/or AIC
