Responsibilities
Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing
Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
Requires the training and mentoring of all levels of Engineers and Designers within E24 Carrier Machinery System department
Requires frequent interface with high level customers up and down the value stream
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
Must be a self-starter, an excellent communicator, an excellent technical leader, and have a strong desire to work in a teaching and mentoring role
Must have experience in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
Must have experience in assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing
Must have the ability to interface with high level customers up and down the value stream
Preferred
Extensive experience in the design, analysis and troubleshooting of software-controlled, electromechanical machinery systems used in Naval applications
Extensive industrial/deckplate experience, coupled with a broad technical knowledge of FORD class systems and analysis methodologies
Experience with software for FEA, shock and survivability
A detailed understanding of the requirements for shipboard machinery systems, particularly FORD class machinery systems
