Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

Coordinate with multidiscipline team to prepare proposals and execute projects
Safely coordinate and execute field exploration programs, construction observation, and associated documentation
Complete engineering analysis including soil and rock classification; shallow and deep foundation capacity, immediate and consolidation settlement; slope stability analysis, geohazard evaluation, ground improvement, and earth retention systems
Partner with internal and external multidisciplinary teams during project development
Prepare Geotechnical Engineering reports
Prepare construction specifications and drawings
Be actively involved during the construction phase of projects
Positively interact with client representatives; and
Development of scope of work, project budgets, work breakdown structures, and schedules

Required

B.S degree in civil engineering (geotechnical or structural), M.S. preferred
12+ years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License. Licensure in the State of Pennsylvania is required or should be obtainable within the first 3 months of employment through reciprocity
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word
Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
Willingness to travel throughout Maryland and its contiguous states
Strong analytical skills are required in areas including: Soil and rock classification, Slope stability analysis, Earth retention systems, Shallow and deep foundation design, Construction Support, Soil improvement techniques, and Stormwater Management

Preferred

Experience with BoreDM, gINT, Lpile, SlopeW, Settle 3D, Slide and CAD software
