Imaging Support Scientist Associate, Center for Biomedical Research Support
The University of Texas at Austin is seeking to hire a full-time Imaging Support Scientist to join the Biomedical Imaging Center (BIC) and support the delivery of the Center’s imaging services to our user-base. The ideal candidate will assist with the delivery of imaging services, coordinate training for users, and support the maintenance of BIC facilities.

Responsibilities
Assist with the upkeep and management of the imaging systems and ancillary equipment of the BIC manner under guidelines provided by senior staff. Tasks to include, but not limited to: running routine system QA/QC protocols; analyzing the data / output using standard pipelines; preparing the imaging systems and their supporting equipment for use and apprising Center users of BIC policies and procedures
Act as the initial point of contact for Center user-support by monitoring our online support request software. Coordinate the response of BIC staff by prioritizing these requests and assigning them to the appropriate staff member. Provide user support for routine troubleshooting and maintenance requests
Coordinate training for users and support staff, including: maintaining training records; scheduling training sessions; and mentoring trainees by delivering safety training. Identify user training and safety needs and coordinate with senior staff to address these needs by updating training materials and classes
Assist with the maintenance of BIC facilities by performing routine equipment checks and ordering and restocking supplies and consumables. Clean and oversee the upkeep of secure areas of the BIC facilities, that cannot be maintained by custodial staff
Provide additional support for BIC’s routine operations under supervision from senior staff. Tasks may include but are not limited to: coordinating with the user-base to establish requirements for communal equipment and supplies, documenting and archiving procedures for research imaging studies; and assisting with imaging research projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to biomedical imaging
Familiarity in the applications of biomedical imaging to research, with experience in one or more of the BIC's key modalities: MRI, PET, CT or optical imaging
Demonstrated ability to support individuals performing preclinical or human subjects research
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with MS office or equivalent packages
Ability to be an effective and flexible team member
Preferred
Master's degree in a related field
Experience with preclinical and/or human research
Experience teaching, tutoring or mentoring others
