Structural Project Engineer (Hybrid Schedule)
Benesch is a growing, multi-disciplined planning, engineering, and professional services firm. They are seeking a Structural Project Engineer to work on complex projects, focusing on the analysis, inspection, load rating, and design of bridge structures in their Chicago, IL office.

Responsibilities
Prepare and review structural and geometric calculations for bridge rehabilitation and design projects
Prepare and review finite element analysis models
Prepare and review bridge load rating reports to DOT standards
Prepare, compile and review plans, specifications, cost estimates and pay items in accordance with DOT standards
Assume responsibility for assigned design calculation files and plans, assuring adequate independent QC reviews on that work
Coordinate the above tasks with the Project/ Technical Manager
Qualification
Required
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
Minimum of 5 years of bridge inspection, analysis, load rating and/or design experience
Strong communication and client relation skills
Progressive experience with developing design drawings and utilizing MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules
Ability to perform complex analysis and design
Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred
MS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or related discipline preferred
PE License preferred
SE License in Illinois or ability and plan to obtain
Successful completion of one or more of the following FHWA-NHI courses is preferred but not required: Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges
Experience working with IDOT, CDOT, ISTHA and/or Chicagoland local agencies preferred
