Director, Volunteer Programs
City Year Greater Boston is seeking a creative and organized Director of Volunteer Programs. This role involves leading a team of AmeriCorps Members to execute a calendar of volunteer opportunities, ensuring the success of fundraising efforts and meeting the needs of school and community partners.

Responsibilities
Lead service events and engagements for at least 1,500 volunteers annually, including up to four events for 200+ volunteers
Collaborate with Development and Service Impact teams to create new volunteer opportunities for stakeholders
Develop and manage partnerships with school, community center, and city liaisons to ensure the necessary conditions and resources are in place for successful volunteer opportunities
Manage permitting and CORI process with Boston Public Schools and Boston Parks & Recreation
Oversee the Service Reserves programs including training, evaluation, tracking, and communications to members
Lead AmeriCorps members and volunteers through the execution of painting, mural, landscaping, light construction, and supply kit projects
Complete physical service projects as required and regularly support onsite prep with the team
Lead, manage, and coach a team of AmeriCorps members to achieve service performance requirements
Lead with a strong sense of City Year culture and values, consistently using City Year culture tools; make meaning of City Year culture and foster strong personal connections to the deeper meaning of our work in schools
Utilize performance management tools to set expectations, identify strengths, and facilitate individual development plans
Design and facilitate impactful trainings that include project management skills, facilitation of volunteer opportunities, graphic design, public speaking, light landscaping, construction, and more
Coach ACMs on all aspects of event and volunteer management, including promoting regular feedback and self-reflection
Collaborate across departments to create a strong pipeline of Civic Engagement AmeriCorps member candidates from November – May
Conduct interviews and participate in selections process for Civic Engagement AmeriCorps members
Support site alignment on AmeriCorps member experience
Collaborate with the Director of Analytics to collect and analyze data to identify areas of improvement opportunities
Collaborate with Development team to facilitate feedback from key donor groups and stakeholders
Analyze volunteer and service partner data and industry trends to continually improve upon volunteer offerings
Attend department and team meetings to share insights and trends identified from the data analysis
Ensure that events fall within designated budgets, submitting orders and processing invoices in a timely manner
Ensure maintenance of Civic Engagement team tools, storage spaces, and leased vehicle
Support sitewide initiatives, including fundraising events, Learning & Development Days (LDDs), AmeriCorps member appreciation events, and team days
Partner across the City Year network with other Civic Engagement programs to ensure aligned trainings, best practice sharing, and professional development opportunities for Civic Engagement AmeriCorps Members
Organize, lead, and/or assist in executing special projects that may fall outside the scope of regular duties. The specific responsibilities and purpose of special projects may vary
Assume other tasks as delegated by supervisor

Experience leading service events and engagements for large groups of volunteers
Ability to collaborate with Development and Service Impact teams
Experience developing and managing partnerships with schools, community centers, and city liaisons
Knowledge of permitting and CORI processes with Boston Public Schools and Boston Parks & Recreation
Experience overseeing training, evaluation, tracking, and communications for programs
Ability to lead AmeriCorps members and volunteers in various service projects
Experience managing a team of AmeriCorps members to achieve service performance requirements
Strong understanding of City Year culture and values
Experience utilizing performance management tools
Ability to design and facilitate impactful trainings
Experience coaching AmeriCorps members on event and volunteer management
Ability to collaborate across departments for candidate recruitment
