Senior Energy Engineer

EN-POWER GROUP is a company focused on energy efficiency and building performance. They are seeking a Senior Energy Engineer to perform energy audits, conduct feasibility studies, manage energy efficiency projects, and lead a team in developing analytical tools and processes.

Responsibilities

Energy Audits & Site Assessments: Perform energy efficiency analyses for ASHRAE Level I, II, and III audits and Local Law 87 audits. Conduct site assessments of complex building systems to evaluate energy usage and identify energy conservation measures (ECMs)
Analysis & Planning: Perform feasibility studies, energy savings, and cost-benefit analyses for complex projects. Create building-wide energy reduction plans using analytical tools. Leverage rebate, financial, and loan initiatives to support implementation
Testing, Compliance & Quality Assurance: Test and retro-commission building systems to ensure Federal, State, and Local Law 87 compliance. Perform measure and verification (M&V) as applicable. Conduct QA/QC processes on all energy reduction plans
Innovation & Utility Analysis: Develop analytical tools and generate ideas for new ECMs based on audit experience. Analyze utility bills to identify consumption patterns and reduction opportunities
Client Communication & Project Management: Present energy reduction plans to clients including management companies, building owners, and staff. Manage energy efficiency projects end-to-end, coordinating with engineering disciplines, contractors, and properties to ensure compliance and proper implementation
Process Development: Develop and expand analytical tool templates and energy audit procedures for the team. Create standardized processes to improve efficiency and consistency
Team Leadership & Management: Support hiring, training, and managing the energy audit team consisting of engineers, analysts, interns, and administrative staff. Manage workflow, provide day-to-day guidance, and serve as point person for the team
Performance Management: Provide performance feedback to management. Identify performance issues, facilitate solutions, and address concerns as appropriate
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties specific to unique area of responsibility and support departmental initiatives as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
5+ years of experience in the energy sector
Advanced knowledge of energy efficiency concepts, HVAC systems, and renewable energy technologies
Expertise with energy modeling techniques and analytical tools
Familiarity with utility and energy efficiency programs (e.g., NYSERDA FlexTech, Con Edison rebates)
Experience with federal, state, or local energy efficiency initiatives
OSHA-10 (must obtain within 6 months of hire if not currently certified)
Multifamily Building Analyst (MFBA), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or equivalent
Professional Engineer (PE) license (completed or in progress)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills
Physical ability to perform site work including standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, working in various environmental conditions, and lifting up to 25 pounds
Primarily based in New York City with regular site visits throughout the five boroughs
Demonstrated passion for energy efficiency and clean energy technology
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to evaluate complex systems and develop practical solutions
Identifies and implements continuous improvements
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meets deadlines
Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment
