The Catastrophe Management Analyst/Sr. Catastrophe Management Analyst will support the management of product lines subject to catastrophic perils by analyzing catastrophe model results and conducting portfolio risk analysis.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise and support for nat cat and liability modeling
Support efforts to provide and communicate exposure and loss estimation for nat cat and liability risk in a timely manner with supervision
Advance automation to further develop efficient analysis and reporting processes

Qualification

Insurance conceptsMS ExcelSQLPower BICatastrophe modelingPythonData scienceTask managementCommunication skills

Required

Knowledge of insurance concepts, policy terms and conditions
Proficiency with MS Excel, SQL and Power BI
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines
2+ years of work experience as a catastrophe modeler/analyst or in a related position within the insurance/reinsurance industry
Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Science in a related quantitative field required
US Work Authorization required. Markel does not provide visa sponsorship for this position, now or in the future

Preferred

Liability modeling experience (ARIUM, Praedicat)
Nat cat modeling experience (Verisk)
Python skills
Data science background/work experience
