FIREFIGHTER (HAZMAT TECH/BASIC LIFE SUPPORT)
The United States Space Force is seeking a Firefighter (Hazardous Materials Technician/Basic Life Support) to serve on a crew engaged in structural firefighting and rescue operations. The primary responsibilities include performing hazard assessments, driving firefighting vehicles, and conducting basic life support procedures.

Responsibilities
Performs hazard and risk assessment and conducts a complete incident analysis
Performs Basic Life Support; Drives and operates firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers and aerial ladder trucks
Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities
Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities; Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment

Males must be registered for Selective Service
Pre-Employment physical required. Employee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program
Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management
The employee is required to work a 72 hour week/144 hours a pay period which includes weekends and holidays
This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing
The position requires a pre-employment physical examination
Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth
The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems
Specialized experience includes controlling or extinguishing fires, rescue operations, detection of fire hazards, operation of fire communications equipment, controlling hazardous materials incidents, and/or providing training in fire protection
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements
Effective 1 Jun 00, all DoD firefighters must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for promotion
Certification requirements for this position are: Firefighter II (includes Firefighter I), HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Technician, Apparatus Driver Operator - Pumper
Required to attain Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) certification after date of hire
