Operations & Maintenance Supervisor
NEOGOV is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Supervisor for the Venice Municipal Airport. The role involves supervising airport operations and maintenance, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Assists the Airport Director with planning daily airport operations and maintenance activities
Responds to emergencies such as aircraft accidents, hazardous spills, or airfield power outages
Supervises, schedules, and directs airport maintenance personnel and others as assigned
Plans and manages airport construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and other projects as directed by the Airport Director
Responsible for ensuring airport grounds and facilities are maintained in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Sarasota County, and City of Venice requirements
Maintains airport buildings, hangars, runways, taxiways, other pavements, lighting, markings, signs, and fencing
Ensures continuous operational integrity of navigational aids, gate access systems, fuel systems, and emergency generator operations
Provides initial, recurrent, and ongoing training for staff. Includes on-the-job training, as well as finding and sending staff to industry training events
Implements wildlife management practices to ensure FAA requirements are met
Issues Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMS) as required
Interprets and administers the collective bargaining agreement, personnel procedures, and departmental policies
Maintains records and prepares reports as assigned to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Assists in airport maintenance budget preparation and oversees fiscal expenditures
Safely and efficiently drives and operates city vehicles and equipment as required
Recommends hiring, transfer, promotion, discharge, discipline, and evaluation of airport maintenance employees
Liaisons with stakeholders to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Performs maintenance and groundskeeping functions as needed to aid in keeping up with the department’s workload
Develops and oversees preventative maintenance schedules for the airport’s assets
Facilitates the use of CityWorks as the department’s work order management system
Qualification
Required
High school graduate or equivalent with seven (7) years of experience in facility operations and maintenance
Experience and demonstrated ability in supervision required
Possess a valid Florida Driver's license, free of any serious violations, or the ability to obtain an in-state license within thirty (30) days from the date of hire
Knowledge of all aspects of facility operations and maintenance, including equipment, applicable regulations, policies, procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions
Ability to work independently of direct supervision and capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance
Must be able to read, interpret, and implement construction plans and specifications; follow oral and written instructions; and plan and organize multiple projects
Ability to complete forms/reports legibly and accurately
Must be able to drive and operate equipment used in the department safely
Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, subordinates, airport tenants and the general public
Requires a working knowledge of the current version of the Microsoft Office Professional software suite, including proficiency with Word and Excel
Must have a basic understanding of the current version of the Microsoft Windows operating system
Ability to learn specific computer applications used in the Department
Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and lift
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and for extended periods of time
Must have good eyesight and hearing with or without aids
Must possess excellent hand-eye coordination
Must be able to work regularly under the stress of emergency situations and deadlines
Preferred
Airport experience is preferred
Familiarity with CentralSquare Software applications based on an iSeries system is preferred
Working knowledge of current versions of Internet browsers and Microsoft Outlook is also highly recommended
