SUPERVISORY SAFETY ENGINEER - Direct Hire Authority
USAJOBS is seeking a Supervisory Safety Engineer to serve as the Chief of Safety at Arnold AFB. The role involves providing supervision, leadership, and technical guidance for various safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and acting as the primary Contracting Officer's Representative for safety programs of multiple contractors.

Responsibilities
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time
Plans, organizes, and directs test/system safety engineering, occupational, flight, and weapons safety activities of the organization, ensuring compliance with Air Force and Federal regulatory requirements
Serves as a safety advisor to the Wing Commander and all levels of management
Represents the Office with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship is required
Males must be registered for Selective Service
Must have at least 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level or band or equivalent pay scale providing supervision, leadership, administrative, technical guidance and functional oversight of occupational, test, systems, weapons, and flight safety as well as the primary Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for the safety programs of multiple contractors
Must meet one of the following qualification requirements by the closing date and provide documentation to support your qualifications
Have a Bachelor's Degree in professional engineering from a curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
Have current registration as a professional engineer
Have evidence of successfully passing the written test required for professional registration or have successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination
Have successfully completed at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of courses in the Physical, Mathematical, and Engineering sciences and in Engineering
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field
Employee must maintain current certifications
This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection
All federal employees are required to have direct deposit
Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period
Incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually
Employee may be required to work overtime or an irregular work shift
Preferred
The ideal candidate would have at least 4 years of relevant T&E experience and safety experience (in either test, flight safety, occupational or weapons disciplines)
Previous Contractor Officer Representative (COR) experience
An advanced degree in engineering
