Adult Basketball Scorekeeper (part-time)
The Mt. Prospect Park District is a community-focused organization providing recreational programs and facilities. They are seeking an Adult Basketball Scorekeeper to supervise and manage the scorebook and clock for adult basketball games during the summer months.

Responsibilities
Arrive at assigned site 15 minutes before first scheduled game time while wearing park district-issued staff apparel
Set up the scorer’s table and chairs, scorebook, and the scoreboard
Set up spectators seating area and player’s area, depending location
Inspect the playing area and make sure it is safe for play
At the completion of the games, score sheets must be completed and left in the binder for the Athletic Manager
When games are over, scorekeepers are responsible for putting away the scoreboard, cleaning up the bleachers, spectators’ seating areas, the gym, and the scorer’s table, if applicable
Set-up and location of equipment will vary from site to site. The Athletic Staff will inform you of your site set-up when you are assigned a location. You may be required to work at more than one site during the season
Act as a liaison between Park District patrons and management
Attend necessary staff meetings
Follow all Park District rules and policies
Additional functions as assigned which may be considered essential
Responsible for all other duties as assigned by the Athletics Supervisor, Athletics Manager, Superintendent of Recreation, Director of Recreation, and/or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency, perform all other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to work the scoreboard and keep score in the scorebook
Must be able to complete the required time sheets and the result card and submit to Athletics in a timely manner
Must be able to communicate effectively with others to allow for the coordination of work, safety, and in emergency situations if needed
Must be able to demonstrate good judgment and common sense
Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and emergencies and respond accordingly
Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
Must be able to stoop, bend and kneel as needed
Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds from a squat position
Must be reliable and able to work independently
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the Scorekeeper position
Must be able to abide by the guidelines and policies set by the Park District
As an Athletic Department Scorekeeper, you are representing the Park District's Athletic Department and its programs
It is very important that our scorekeepers conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
They must display a positive attitude in regards to the park district, its employees and programs
Due to the needs of the Park District, evening and weekend hours may be required
