Part-Time Social Media Assistant

Penn State University is seeking a Part-Time Social Media Assistant to manage Campus Recreation's social media presence. The role involves content creation, engagement, and strategic planning across various platforms, as well as attending events to capture real-time content.

Responsibilities

Monitor the Campus Recreation social media calendar to ensure timely and accurate posting of facility updates, events, and programs
Develop engaging digital content, including video editing, graphic design, and creative storytelling, to build engagement among target and broad audiences
Research and implement emerging trends and engagement strategies to enhance social media presence
Maintain a consistent tone and voice across all platforms, adhering to University brand guidelines and evolving best practices
Schedule and post content across platforms, ensuring alignment with department objectives
Attend Campus Recreation events and programs to capture real-time content, including video, photography, and social stories
Actively monitor and engage with social media followers, responding to comments and messages as needed
Serve as a brand ambassador for Penn State Campus Recreation, both online and in-person
Work closely with the social media team to align messaging and strategies
Communicate regularly with supervisors, maintaining open dialogue on project progress and social media performance
Display professionalism in all interactions, modeling positive rapport with patrons and colleagues
Act as a decisive problem-solver in the absence of professional staff, ensuring smooth operations

Current Penn State employee or student must apply through Workday

Candidates must successfully complete a background check
Flexibility to accommodate a variable schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and University breaks

Preferred

Experience (academic or non-academic) in social media management, communications, or business operations
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to interact positively with patrons and employees
Proficiency in Adobe Express
Familiarity with content creation tools, social media analytics, and engagement strategies
