Responsibilities
Oversee the daily execution of the engineering roadmap, ensuring the team efficiently delivers high-quality, reliable code on time
Maintain the 24/7 health and stability of mission-critical payment systems, leading on-call rotations, incident response, and driving post-mortem analysis to continuously improve system reliability and reduce transaction errors
Provide hands-on guidance on complex technical designs, architecture proposals, and perform thorough code reviews to maintain high standards for security, performance, and scalability across the payments stack
Act as the primary engineering liaison, collaborating closely with Product Management, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Risk teams to align on requirements, prioritize features, and ensure regulatory adherence (e.g., PCI DSS)
Set the long-term technical vision and architectural roadmap for the team and underlying services to support billions of secure transactions globally
Attract, hire, mentor, and coach top-tier software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, and continuous learning within the Foundation Pod
Qualification
Required
8+ years of hands-on experience in software development, with a focus on building and operating highly scalable distributed systems
2+ years of direct experience managing and mentoring high-performing engineering teams
Demonstrated ability to define and drive technical vision and roadmap for mission-critical, high-volume services
A strong track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining exceptional engineering talent
Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical trade-offs and project status to technical peers, product managers, and executive leadership
Familiarity with various global payment methods (e.g., credit cards, ACH, digital wallets, regional banking transfers) and the complexities of international funds acquisition
Experience integrating with or managing external vendor relationships for critical infrastructure services
