Camp Director- Youth and Teen Camps
The City of Rockville is seeking responsible, enthusiastic, and highly organized individuals to serve as Camp Directors for our summer programs. Camp Directors are the primary leaders of their assigned camp and are responsible for the daily supervision of staff, coordination of activities, communication with families, and overall safety and well-being of all participants.

Responsibilities
Provide daily leadership and oversight of all camp operations, staff, and participants
Plan, organize, and implement a well-rounded schedule of age-appropriate activities, trips, and special events
Supervise, support, and evaluate Camp Leaders, Counselors, and Volunteers; provide coaching and feedback to ensure high-quality program delivery
Maintain active and engaged supervision, ensuring camper safety at all times, including during transitions, open play, aquatic activities, and off-site trips
Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians—communicating schedules, addressing concerns, and providing timely updates
Manage camper behavioral concerns using positive guidance strategies and in accordance with City and departmental policies
Oversee completion of administrative tasks such as attendance, incident reports, medication logs, and end-of-day procedures
Ensure compliance with all City of Rockville policies, Maryland COMAR regulations, and camp safety protocols
Coordinate with Recreation Program Supervisors and City staff to report injuries, emergencies, or unusual situations immediately
Model professionalism, inclusiveness, and team collaboration at all times
Qualification
Required
Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to supervise staff and manage group dynamics
Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills
Ability to remain calm, positive, and solution-oriented in fast-paced situations
Knowledge of youth development, recreational programming, and activity planning
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required (training provided if needed)
Minimum two or three years of experience working in a camp, school, youth recreation, or child-focused environment
Must be at least 21 years old
High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
Experience in planning and implementing youth programs preferred
College coursework in Recreation, Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
Additional certifications or trainings (e.g., Medication Administration, Lifeguarding, or Behavior Management) may be required depending on the camp
