Part Time Police Desk Assistant
NEOGOV is seeking a Part Time Police Desk Assistant to function as an administrative liaison between the public, law enforcement officials, and City staff. The role involves transcribing reports, relaying information, and providing front desk assistance in the Police Department.

Responsibilities
Transcribes reports for police services. Skill required transcribing from audio recording to word document at a minimum of 50 WPM
Receives and relays telephone, walk-in, and teletype information to ensure police services effectively handle crimes, medical emergencies, accidents, and all other types of concerns/issues referred to the Department
Receives and relays concise information to the general public to answer questions and provide responses regarding police procedures and activities
Provides front desk assistance in answering inquiries, receiving reports, issuing permits, handling and resolving complaints, directing visitors, and providing general service information
Receives and relays detailed and concise information to Ottawa County Central Dispatch regarding police concerns
Assists remote officers with LEIN requests. Receives and makes inquiries on the LEIN, and transmits received information to personnel
Maintains storage room, including organizing files and ordering supplies
Performs additional duties of an administrative nature to support the efficient operation of the Department
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Knowledge normally acquired through the completion of high school and additional specialized training in Office Administration, Public Administration, Business, or a related field
One to two years of experience in administrative support and/or law enforcement
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with City officials, law enforcement officers, and the general public in situations requiring tact and patience
Computer skills necessary to effectively utilize word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications
Typing skill at a minimum of 60 WPM at 98% accuracy
Mental ability to periodically handle pressures related to working on projects requiring attention to detail and deal with the concerns of citizens and employees
Physical ability to occasionally lift and transport equipment and materials weighing up to 40 pounds, and frequently sit in one position for extended periods of time
