TRiO Academic Advisor / Tutoring Coordinator

NEOGOV is seeking a TRiO Academic Advisor / Tutoring Coordinator to support the Director of TRiO Student Support Services & Tutoring in implementing and coordinating tutoring services. Responsibilities

Develops effective tutoring processes and policies to support course instruction, retention, and persistence
Coordinates the alignment of tutoring services with TRiO objectives and outcomes
Reviews, updates, and evaluates tutoring data; assists Director with reports related to tutoring
Coordinates the scheduling of tutorial requests made by participants, including appropriate assessment of tutoring needs
Coordinates the development and ongoing revision of a policy and procedures manual for the tutoring program
Responsible for recruitment, selection, training, scheduling, assignment, and supervision of tutors. Evaluates tutor performance and provides ongoing tutor training and development
Keeps abreast of best tutoring practices
Evaluates and recommends processes, interventions, and materials to be used in providing academic success skills, habits, and tutorial services to students
Assists Director with tutor budgeting and resource allocation
Provides TRiO SSS participants with information about tutoring options and their responsibilities to receive tutoring services; coordinates, promotes, and facilitates individual tutoring services for TRiO participants
Coordinates services with the Disability Services office; serves as the primary Academic Counselor for TRiO participants with documented disabilities; ensures students with academic accommodations needs are met and helps them to better utilize their accommodations
Reviews, updates, and evaluates tutoring data; develops reports related to tutoring
Promotes student development, learning, advocacy, and success; and serves as the primary resource for assisting SSS participants with academic success strategies/habits, course selection, transfer planning, and financial literacy education
Assesses SSS participants' educational needs and develops an educational plan to support progress and goal completion
Conducts comprehensive intake and assessment of SSS applicants using informal and formal assessment tools; assures SSS applicants meet federal eligibility guidelines
Provides academic holistic and developmental advising, career counseling, and academic skills building and coaching services to SSS participants
Regularly monitors SSS participant progress and, when necessary, provides and/or makes recommendations for appropriate intervention measures
Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of currently funded proposals for the SSS program, including program objectives and outcomes
Assures SSS participants have access to and are receiving the required services outlined in 34 CFR 646, including tutoring, information on Federal financial aid, financial literacy, and application and transfer to four year programs
Maintains satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record and ability to travel to and work from the East Campus
Assists Director in the planning and development of new and/or existing components of the tutoring program
Assists Director with tracking tutor usage and contributes to reports as required
Keeps abreast of emerging technological applications useful to student learning and tutoring
Assists students in developing learning skills strategies and assists learners with computer and other technology-based instruction and materials
Represents and advocates for the needs of low-income, first generation, and disabled students when serving on internal work groups or committees to foster an institutional climate that is supportive of these student populations
Conducts outreach among currently enrolled students to assure adequate representation of eligible students within the program
Coordinates and monitors Early Alert reports and subsequent responses for TRiO students
Maintains up to date knowledge of current BHC advising practices
Assists in recruiting TRiO participants
Refers students to appropriate college and community services
Maintains accurate and current student files
Performs other job related duties as assigned

Required

Master's degree required. Major and/or concentration in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, College Student Personnel, or Student Affairs preferred
Previous supervisory experience and/or experience supervising student workers or temporary staff required
At least two years successful demonstrated experience in academic advising or academic counseling required
At least two years direct service work with disadvantaged, low-income, first-generation college students, individuals with disabilities, and/or other at-risk groups required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, etc.) required
Oral and written English proficiency required
Demonstrated problem solving skills required
Experience conducting workshops required
Valid driver's license required and ability to travel to and work from the East Campus as needed
