Sompo is seeking a Summer 2026 Underwriting Intern for the Excess Casualty team in their Los Angeles, CA office. The Internship Program is designed to provide professional growth in the Insurance/Reinsurance industry, allowing interns to work alongside experienced underwriters and gain in-depth knowledge through hands-on learning and mentoring.

Responsibilities

Assisting Underwriters in exposure analysis and operational analysis of insureds

Compiling a competitor analysis from a publicly available database

Working with Underwriting Assistants in developing renewal lists

Contacting brokers for submissions

Accompanying underwriters during internal meetings and occasional external marketing calls

Required

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program for the full duration of the internship with a minimum GPA of 3.0

Ability to articulate ideas clearly through written and verbal communication

Solution-oriented mindset and data analytical skills

Local to the desired office location or able to arrange housing and transportation in the area to support an in-office working arrangement during the internship

Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States without restriction
