Responsibilities
Provide hands-on engineering support to the fabrication floor, including press brakes and laser cutting machines
Troubleshoot production issues related to machine performance, tooling, setups, and part quality
Develop, improve, and maintain work instructions, setup sheets, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Support machine operators and supervisors with process improvements and technical guidance
Ensure manufacturing processes meet safety, quality, and productivity standards
Create and maintain routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and process documentation
Optimize laser cutting parameters (cut speeds, nesting, material utilization) to reduce scrap and cycle time
Optimize press brake forming processes, including bend sequences, tooling selection, and setups
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to cost reduction, throughput, and quality
Support quoting of new fabrication jobs by reviewing customer drawings and specifications
Develop labor estimates, machine time estimates, and material requirements for laser cutting and press brake operations
Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Finance to ensure accurate and competitive quotes
Support the launch of new fabrication jobs into production
Validate processes through first-article runs and production trials
Ensure proper documentation, tooling, and programs are in place before full production release
Support quality initiatives by investigating nonconformance and implementing corrective actions
Ensure processes align with internal quality standards, such as IATF and ISO, and customer requirements
Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in a fabrication or metal manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience with press brakes and laser cutting machines required
Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes
Experience with laser cutting technologies
Knowledge of press brake operations, tooling, and bend calculations
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Familiarity with CAD and/or SolidWorks
Experience with ERP systems for routings and costing is a plus
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work directly on the shop floor with operators and supervisors
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Ability to lift up to 25lbs frequently
Have the ability to work 8+ hour shift standing, sitting, bending and reaching throughout the duration of your shift
Able to feel, grasp and touch parts to perform quality checks regularly
Consistently works in a noisy and hot environment
Have attention to detail and depth perception to perform quality checks frequently
