Responsibilities
Train to underwrite risk that determines the selection/rejection of new and renewal commercial business
Gain an understanding of the underwriting thought process and learn to utilize underwriting guidelines, procedures, rating manual rules and insurance laws/regulations
Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and insureds within assigned territory
Participate in an extensive training program involving instruction and self-study combined with on-the-job shadowing
Evaluate existing and new accounts and make underwriting recommendations within limited authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (NOTE: relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education)
Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship building, interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgment and decision-making
Ability to determine customer needs, provide solutions and price business appropriately
Basic knowledge of underwriting processes, coverages, tools and company products and services
Basic working knowledge of the ISO Underwriting Manual, AAIS, NCCI and coverage forms
Preferred
