2026 Summer Research Internship: Power Sector Model Development

Responsibilities
Provide technical support to the RFF Research and Policy Engagement team
Contribute to the development of RFF’s electricity sector models
Support the modeling team in improving policy representations and increasing model flexibility
Assist in policy analysis related to demand growth from electrification trends
Qualification
Required
Experience in Julia, Python, or GAMS programming languages. Undergraduate students must have experience with Julia
Data analysis and data management skills and comfort working with large datasets
Preferred
Experience with optimization or linear programming
Experience with power sector modeling and/or familiarity with power systems
Experience with energy system databases (e.g. NREL ATB, NEEDS)
Experience with version control software (e.g., git) and package/environment management in programming
