Senior Vice President, Strategy, Operations and Talent
Axim Collaborative is a nonprofit that transforms education to work pathways by facilitating collaboration and innovations to build an ecosystem of solutions to drive better outcomes for millions of learners. The Senior VP, Strategy, Operations, and Talent will lead the development and execution of Axim’s organizational strategy, manage partnerships, and oversee talent acquisition and development efforts.

Responsibilities
Partner with the CEO and team to develop and refine organizational strategy for Axim Collaborative, including refining the theory of change, evolving programmatic strategies and establishing organizational priorities and dashboards for team and board management
Continue to build out the organizational model to enable strategy, including processes and functions that support overall strategy, identifying future resource and system needs and coordinating strategic links to the Open edX Project. Processes could include grantmaking, community building strategies, knowledge management and portfolio level initiatives
Ensure organizational strategies position Axim for increased partnerships, innovation, and impact in the medium term
Lead the implementation and refinement of the partnership process, including the overarching process, data and impact processes, system and tools
Oversee the systems required to enable partnership work, currently Monday.com. Assess and plan for new systems that are required for our partnership efforts
Oversee the operational component of all partnerships including due diligence and fiscal oversight
Coordinate with VP of Data and Impact to incorporate data processes and gather impact data
Build consistency for process use across the team, identifying areas for ongoing improvements
Evolve the systems and processes as the organization grows and scales impact
Manage team that supports partnership operations and partnership support, currently the Program Manager, Partnership Director and Partnership Coordinator
Serve as people manager of potential future VPs building a community of partnership leads and fostering connection
With CEO and HR Manager, design short and medium term organizational structure, identifying areas where new staff or consultants will be needed
Oversee talent acquisition and talent development efforts for organization, including evolving hiring processes, partnering on performance management, and refining professional development
Serve as human resource primary contact for employees to manage requests, concerns and confidential matters. Work in partnership with the senior team and legal counsel to resolve issues
Partner with CEO and HR Manager to continue to build the team culture
Galvanize and organize the senior team towards organizational development, process and people initiatives
Build a sense of shared purpose and collective culture within and across departments; cultivate trust between the organization and its partners
Model the values of inclusive excellence and foster environments that actively encourage a diversity of perspectives on teams
Participate in annual organizational goal setting and planning to align operations and budgets with the broader mission
Effectively prepare for and guide the organization through growth, change, and transition
Manage the Program Manager, Partnerships Director, Partnership Coordinator and Human Resources Manager. Management responsibility will grow as the team expands
Provide a variety of motivational styles, tailored to individual team members using a range of tools and tactics to help staff of varying abilities perform and grow
Invest in the ongoing professional development of staff by staying informed of opportunities and resources for growth within the organization and encouraging staff to explore them where appropriate
Clearly communicate performance expectations and provide regular, fair, actionable, and timely performance feedback; recognize competent and exemplary performance, effectively address marginal and unsatisfactory performance
Ensure all members of the organization understand the strategic mission of Axim and how they play a part in its outcomes
Qualification
Required
Robust understanding of how education innovation can support students in broad access higher education settings
Deep commitment to education equity and ability to apply an equity lens in all strategies and work streams
Exceptional ability and judgement to align strategy, team and organizational processes to support mission and impact potential
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders in service of learner outcomes
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the research understanding needed to connect work to Data and Impact priorities and generate insights across all organizational functions
Experience operating in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment as a creative thinker and problem solver
Exceptional project management, prioritization, and planning skills in complex workstreams, with demonstrated success producing high-quality deliverables on time and within budget
At least 20 years in progressive leadership roles, including significant team management and talent development experience
Experience in and passion for leading organizational culture and change management initiatives
Experience in a high-growth organization, particularly in leading organizational development strategy
Exposure or experience to leading an HR or talent function for a small to mid-size organization
