Responsibilities

Maintain ongoing readiness for CoC, NAPBC, QOPI, and other oncology-related accreditation standards
Coordinate required accreditation activities, documentation, audits, and site visits
Monitor changes to regulatory requirements and communicate updates to relevant teams
Support development, implementation, and evaluation of cancer program quality initiatives
Developing data collection instruments for abstraction of relevant clinical data from medical records
Collect, validate, and analyze oncology quality data from multiple sources (e.g., cancer registry, EMR, patient experience data, NCDB)
Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reports to measure key performance indicators
Provide data insights to clinical teams and leadership to support decision-making
Review and monitor quality measures (e.g., accountability, quality improvement, and surveillance measures for CoC)
Prepare and present findings for quality committees, tumor boards, accreditation reviews, and leadership meetings
Utilizing strong interpersonal skills to work directly with physicians and other health system personnel to understand and support their data needs
Researching and assisting in the interpretation of medical data to maximize presentations and help clinicians/physicians to make conclusions and recommendations
Partner with clinicians and leadership to identify performance improvement opportunities in the cancer program
Assist with workflow assessments and process development to optimize patient outcomes and efficiency
Collaborate with nurse navigators, registrars, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to address gaps in care
Providing primary support to Oncology Services Committee
Assisting the chair Manager/Director with development of the agenda, preparation of materials and data, and follows through on actions taken by the Committee
Designing, developing and assisting with the implementation of the quality improvement programs including tools such as the PDCA (Plan Do Check Act) model, rapid cycle improvement processes, value stream mapping, involvement with LEAN teams and waste reduction strategies
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team on problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services and systems/ performance measures
Analyzes and reports on data collected from a variety of sources
Develops detailed quality financial reports for specific groups and service lines
Serving on Oncology co-management committee to help support and provide data on quality and safety initiatives
Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed
Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared
Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes
Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes
Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year
Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department
Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self
Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance
Complies with established organization and department policies
Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required

Required

RN or LPN license in the state of Indiana
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to compile, analyze and process clinical information
Working knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
Demonstrates proficiency in basic computer applications (i.e. email, office word and excel spreadsheets)
Demonstrates interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills necessary to effectively communicate and maintain working relationships with physicians and other staff members
Strong organizational skills necessary to effectively establish priorities, meet deadlines, work independently and coordinate multiple tasks

Preferred

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in nursing
Current license to practice as a Nurse in Indiana
Bachelor's degree in a health care field
Course work in ICD-9-CM coding system, ICD-10 and CPT coding methodology
Working knowledge of database applications and a basic understanding of graphics software
