Electric Designer I/II
City of College Station is seeking an Electric Designer I/II to design and prepare construction projects for electric distribution system additions, expansions, and modifications. The role involves ensuring quality and safety in construction and providing project management services from inception to completion.

Responsibilities
Design overhead and underground electric distribution projects to College Station Utilities (CSU) standards, specifications, codes and other accepted design and industry standards
Review and interpret design drawings, developer plats, customer load information, and other customer provided information to extrapolate the information required to provide the requested electric service to the customer
Ensure the rights of the City of College Station to install and maintain the electric distribution facilities by researching, preparing, submitting, and securing the proper easements, rights-of-way, and permits
Provide customer with accurate estimates for work to be provided, and any charges required. Process billing and track payment through the accounting system
Provide project management for maintenance and new construction projects. This includes accountability for such activities as project design, land base entry, material acquisition, easements and permits, cost estimates, scheduling, tracking, and project closing to meet customers ’ expectations and maintain accurate system records
Provide documentation and as-built design information required to maintain and update the GIS mapping and ensure accurate asset capitalization
Work and communicate with developers, consulting engineers, contractors, and others on project specification and requirements
Collaborate with electric construction crews to overcome potential pitfalls in design versus construction issues
Work and communicate with internal departments such as Planning and Development Services, Legal, Parks and Recreation, Water Services, and Public Works
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the electrical transmission or electrical distribution industry, or Associate's degree in technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid Texas Driver's License
Skilled in use of office productivity tools (Example: Microsoft Office)
Four (4) years of experience in electric utility overhead and underground distribution design or the equivalent combination of education and experience (I.e., High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience or Associate degree and two (2) years of experience)
Ability to work autonomously with customers, crews, and other city departments
Proficient in following and applying Electric and City policies and procedures
Level II PLDS (Power Line Design & Staking) certification
Preferred
Experience with ESRI GIS software
Experience with Electric Utility project design or CAD technology
Knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution terminology and theory of operations
Familiarity with surveying equipment and tools
