Responsibilities
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements, may need assistance
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, vertical turret lathe, horizontal boring mill, tool post grinder, and drill press
Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
Installs machined replacement parts in equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality
Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma
7 to 10 years of experience
Setup and operate a variety of machine tools, such as lathes (manual), milling machines (manual), vertical turret lathe (manual), horizontal boring mill (manual) to machine precision components per specifications
Applies appropriate machining processes to manufacture parts specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or charts
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client group
Ability to troubleshoot in-depth issues with rotating equipment
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pump drawings
Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues
Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, time management, and prioritization skills
Well-developed planning, organization, analytical, and decision-making skills
Ability to produce clear, timely, and concise documentation and have well-developed problem-solving skills
Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job
Proficient in relevant PC skills
