KEY Camp Lead Counselor

Casper College is seeking a KEY Camp Lead Counselor to coordinate and oversee camp programs while assisting with the training of camp staff. The lead counselor will manage day-to-day camp operations and ensure a positive and inclusive environment for campers and counselors.

Responsibilities

Cooperate with community education staff to coordinate the camp program
Oversee day-to-day operations, including camp events, activities, meals, attendance, and transitions
Ensure that accommodations, transportation, food service, and other support services work efficiently during the camp
Remain visible and accessible to campers and staff at all times; supervise campers during breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Provide clear communication to campers and camp staff about camp procedures, camp daily activities, and schedule changes
Promote an inclusive and positive camp environment. Provide guidance, motivation, and support to all counselors and campers
Mediate and resolve any counselor or camper disputes
Supervise and guide camp counselors and provide timely feedback
Participate in and assist with all camp training
Comply with all applicable laws and Casper College policies to ensure counselors’ and campers’ well-being
Know, follow, and enforce all safety guidelines, including knowing the whereabouts of campers and counselors at all times
Ensure that the nurse and the counselors track campers’ dietary restrictions/allergies
Resolve incidents and report to the community education coordinator
Communicate with parents upon approval from the community education coordinator
Ensure that campers and parents receive appropriate camp informational materials
Maintain necessary documentation and accurate program records, including but not limited to incident reports, counselor or camper disputes, room assignments, and food allergies
Ensure the proper use of all facilities at all times
Follow and enforce all behavioral expectations
Identify, solve, and report problems with scheduling, staffing, supplies, weather, and other issues to ensure campers have a high-quality camp experience
Demonstrate appropriate behavior and use appropriate language at all times
Participate in KEY Camp debrief session
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

21 years old or older
Bachelor's degree in education or related field or equivalent experience with youth programs or camps - graduate students encouraged to apply
Ability to relate to and communicate well with children
Ability to supervise counselors and campers and work as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to provide emotional support to campers struggling with adjustment to the camp environment
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize assigned work and to solve complex problems
A valid driver's license
Ability to pass a background check
