The Town of Cutler Bay is looking for a Youth Program Aide to support the daily operations of their youth programs. The role involves supervising and engaging with children aged 5-12, providing academic assistance, and creating a safe and enriching environment for youth development.

Responsibilities

Assist the Youth Program Teacher and Youth Program Administrator in implementing daily literacy skills, lesson plans, enrichment and academic activities for all youth enrolled in the Town’s Youth Program
Provide a structured, enjoyable learning experience for all youth
Provide direct support to students in need of academic intervention/homework assistance
Provide student instruction/support in a small group setting
Assist with conducting assessments of student learning and document program accomplishments
Participate in meetings and training as needed to support the program and student success
Comply with all safety and other regularity and/or funder requirements
Performs general maintenance and clean up duties at the park such as emptying trash and ash tray bins, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, wiping down tables and chairs and other furnishings, replenishing toilet paper and hand towels, cleaning concession area, restrooms, and ball fields
Must complete all organizational mandated training, within the designated time frame
Performs other duties as directed

Required

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
Must have completed the required 40-hour Department of Children and Families training or be able to complete within ninety (90) days from date of hire
Must demonstrate an ability to work with school-age children
Must demonstrate patience and the ability to work in an inclusionary learning environment
Must be a non-smoker
Must be fluent in English
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must complete a background investigation which includes obtaining a level ll clearance (this includes fingerprinting and a national criminal history search)
The Youth Program Aide will be required to complete all training within six (6) months from the date of hire
Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to establish good customer relations. This includes the ability to deal with people effectively, courteously, and enthusiastically
Requires limited knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment typically used in recreational work and cleaning duties
Ability to understand and follow simple, oral, and written instructions
Knowledge of basic rules of safety, and ability to enforce applicable rules and regulations
Must be able to work independently, and complete daily tasks according to work schedule
Ability to get along with others and work effectively with the public and fellow workers
Requires the ability to maintain high ethical and moral standards
Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull
Move, lift and/or carry up to thirty (30) pounds to shoulder height
Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
Demonstrate normal depth perception
Sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone

Preferred

Experience working with children in a group setting is preferred
Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred
