PTS Advance is a leading engineering and cybersecurity consulting organization seeking a Cybersecurity Consultant to support IT and ICS security initiatives. The role involves executing cybersecurity assessments, penetration testing, and compliance activities for critical infrastructure environments, with a strong client-facing component requiring frequent onsite work across Virginia.

Responsibilities

Execute cybersecurity projects supporting IT and ICS/OT environments

Conduct network and web application penetration testing and vulnerability assessments

Perform cybersecurity risk assessments aligned with NIST CSF, NIST RMF , and other regulatory or industry frameworks

Design, implement, and validate cybersecurity technical controls, policies, and procedures

Identify operational and security issues and implement remediation strategies

Perform post-incident and post-event analysis and recommend procedural improvements

Develop policies and procedures for secure process control network design

Provide technical recommendations for firewall implementation and network security controls

Compile detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams and traffic analysis

Communicate technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and consulting teams

Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity standards

Pursue and maintain relevant cybersecurity certifications as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

Minimum 3 years of relevant cybersecurity experience

Experience performing vulnerability assessments and penetration testing

Strong knowledge of cybersecurity controls including: Firewalls, Access control and authentication, Anti-virus / anti-malware, Patching and logging

Advanced knowledge of modern and legacy networking and telecommunications

Experience with OT/ICS environments such as: Utilities, Manufacturing, Oil & gas, Transportation, Smart buildings or smart cities

Familiarity with physical network cabling and control system I/O

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong technical documentation and report-writing capabilities

Ability to work under pressure in industrial, corporate, and government environments

Ability to obtain and maintain access to client sites
