Regulation and Technical Manager

The Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring products meet regulatory labeling requirements and generating product label contents, while also supporting R&D and sales with regulatory inquiries and compliance processes.

Responsibilities
Develop product nutrition and ingredient information for product labels that are in compliance with local (US and/or Canadian regulations) and export requirements
Verify accuracy of product label ingredient declarations and nutrition facts panels prior to printing for preprinted labeling
Oversee and maintain formula management/nutrition databases with ingredient and formula information
Oversee accuracy of technical supplier data used to populate internal systems to deliver required accuracy for product labels and information
Works with customers and R&D on formula design to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements
Work with Sales and R&D as part of commercialization process for new products
Responds to nutritional and regulatory technical inquiries for both internal and external customers
Monitors changes or updates in regulatory requirements and disseminates internally as needed
Responds to rapidly changing priorities according to business and customer requests
Uses excellent communication skills and represents the company to both external and internal customers in a professional manner
Manages Halal and Kosher certification program
Understands process for submittals for certificates of free sale (California and Illinois)
Responsible for creating and/or updating customer specs within the customer databases or customers forms, as required
Familiar with USDA, FDA and international guidelines
Follows GMP, Quality and safety practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in a Scientific discipline or related field and 10+ years of related experience in FDA, USDA, or a combination of food product label regulations, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred
Must be detail oriented in proof-reading, data entry, managing databases and information
Experience using Outlook, Word, Excel, and data bases
Ability to work independently and use a project management approach to work including design of project, setting milestones, establishing timelines and communicating updates as appropriate
Good planning, organizational, problem solving, and people skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of quality control processes related to the food processing industry
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
