Responsibilities
Evaluate solar energy projects and meteorological data
Define site constraints and develop buildable areas for PV arrays
Perform finance-grade solar resource assessments
Develop PV models and recommend modules, inverters, and tracker technologies
Conduct detailed design package reviews and quality assurance
Support estimating, preconstruction, and business development teams
Review commercial agreements such as PPAs, interconnection agreements, and service contracts
Perform site visits to verify construction aligns with engineering designs
Maintain engineering documentation and project records
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field, preferably from an ABET-accredited program
4–8 years of experience in PV system design and analysis (trade experience may count)
Proficiency in solar modeling tools, AutoCAD, PVSyst, BlueBeam, and MS Office
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work in office and field environments, with up to 30% travel
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with engineering best practices and industry standards
Ability to review, validate, and optimize solar system designs
Competence in preparing technical reports, presentations, and recommendations
Preferred
Experience with utility-scale solar projects is highly preferred
