Mechanical Engineer 2
NuScale Power is focused on innovative nuclear technology, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to perform mechanical engineering assignments on the nuclear steam supply system. The role involves generating technical requirements, performing engineering evaluations, and collaborating with a multi-discipline team to ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
Generate technical requirements for NSSS systems, structures and components
Perform and check engineering evaluations in accordance with NuScale company procedures, by applying sound engineering judgement
Support the preparation and review of engineering specifications, drawings, reports and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of systems, structures and components associated with the nuclear steam supply system
Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams
Support development and implementation of effective processes for component design specifications
Possess strong written and oral communication skills
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) or Mechanical Engineering Technology, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required
A minimum of 2 years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience in mechanical engineering or related industry experience is required
Thorough working knowledge and experience in various areas of engineering is required
Development of technical programs related to design, examination and testing is required
Strong technical writing skills as well as good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate
Good organization skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases is required
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
Preferred
A registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is desired
Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1 is preferred
