Dental Laboratory Technician
USAJOBS is seeking a Dental Laboratory Technician for the Marion VA Medical Center. This position involves performing complex dental procedures in support of dental professionals and the Veteran population.

Responsibilities
Constructing routine full and partial dentures, dental splints and obturators, model work for fixed prostheses and other laboratory products to support the treatment needs of staff dentists
Functioning include pouring primary and final impressions; fabricating custom trays; fabricating bite rims; mounting casts on articulators
Setting teeth for trial dentures/partials; investing, packing, processing and finishing dentures/partials
Polishing prosthesis following adjustment; fabricating night guards; fabricating provisional prostheses; repairing broken prostheses
Adding teeth to prostheses; pouring and pinning final crown and bridge impressions; sectioning dies; fabricating fluoride trays
Fabricating stints; fabricating transitional partials, managing implant fabrication process and fabricating wrought wire clasps
Waxes, invests, casts, and finishes cast crown and bridges and metal substructures for porcelain crowns and bridges; stacking and firing ceramics on porcelain crowns and bridges
Knowledge of oral anatomy, tooth morphology and dentition
Involved in complex removable and fixed oral-maxillofacial appliances including fixed, semi-fixed, or removable cases, partial and complete dentures when the severe nature of the dental abnormalities to be overcome require working to unusually close tolerances, resolving particularly difficult problems of retention, balance, reducing tension on natural teeth and tissue, and similar problems
Performing other duties as assigned

You must possess 1 year of specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position
Specialized experience for the position includes using dental laboratory material such as impression materials, plasters, stones, hydrocolloids, waxes, metals, acrylics, porcelain, and similar materials
Using laboratory equipment such as hand tools, dental lathes, engines, and hand pieces, furnaces, casting machines, presses, flasks, and related equipment
Using precision instruments such as articulators, surveyors, and microanalyzers
Constructing dental prosthetic appliances
Fabricating complex oral-maxillofacial appliance including partial and full dentures, dental splints and obturators, model work for fixed prostheses and other laboratory products
You must have successfully completed two full years of graduate education or a master's degree that is directly related to the work of this position as a Dental Lab Technician
You must possess equivalent combinations of experience and education as previously described to fully meet the requirements of this position
A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education
Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment
Long periods of standing, sitting, and bending required
