Responsibilities

Developing and implementing communication strategies aligned with the organization's overarching mission and strategic goals
Creating comprehensive communication plans that includes various audiences both internal and external to OS, ensuring that messaging is consistent, clear, and effectively conveys the organization's key priorities
Overseeing the execution of these communication plans, monitors their effectiveness, and makes adjustments as required to maximize impact
Maintaining and ensuring the consistency of the organization's brand in all communications and public-facing materials
Directing and planning work to be accomplished by subordinates within the communications team, setting short and long-term priorities and preparing work schedules to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget

Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 12/19/2025
Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as leading teams to develop and implement strategic communication plans, designing and executing communication initiatives, translating complex policies and programs into clear materials, leveraging communication tools and platforms, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and analyzing communication challenges
Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible
Background Investigation: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment
Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP
Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment
