Principal Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead Capacity Planning & Performance Tuning: Monitor, analyze, forecast utilization and business volumes. Recommend resource provisioning for mainframe processors and peripherals
Innovate with Modern Tools: Use and develop advanced dashboards (Grafana, Power BI), automate workflows (SAS, R, Python), and fully exploit real-time monitoring (IBM/Broadcom SYSVIEW)
Collaborate Across Fidelity: Partner with internal teams and vendors, supporting diverse business and technical units
Deliver Value: Provide technical support, reporting, analysis, and recommendations to ensure optimal performance and capacity for hardware, OS, storage, and applications
Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze data, identify trends, and implement enhancements for daily operations and strategic projects
Deep expertise in mainframe capacity and performance engineering within large-scale, complex enterprises
Advanced knowledge of IBM zEnterprise hardware, RMF, SMF, SAS, MXG, Intellimagic, and related tools
Experience with SYSPLEX design, WLM policy tuning, and PR/SM optimization of GP & zIIP configurations
Strong programming skills (SAS/MXG, Python, R, Grafana, Power BI)
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to advancing technology and processes
