Environmental Engineer
Arconic is currently seeking an Environmental Engineer to join their Rolled Products North America business unit in Alcoa, TN. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and managing water and waste management programs while providing guidance to plant personnel.

Responsibilities
Develops, recommends, and implements programs for an environmental media (specifically water and/or waste) to assure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations including documentation, reporting, permitting, and training
Operate and maintain water treatment equipment and systems
Monitor water quality by conducting routine testing and analysis
Adjust chemical dosages to ensure water purity and safety
Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems
Maintain accurate records of water treatment processes and results
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Perform preventative maintenance on treatment equipment
Respond to emergencies and equipment malfunctions promptly
Draft and implement operational procedures and safety protocols
Participates and leads the development of projects to improve program compliance, minimize costs, and investigate, evaluate, and implement new approaches to ensure long term compliance and sustainability of the location
Identifies potential environmental compliance issues/program deficiencies and works with the areas to develop solutions for these issues
Maintain ISO 14001 certification for the location through audit and program guidance in the areas
Assess environmental impacts/aspects of new equipment and operational changes
Train and coach line organization on environmental issues
Implement and utilize environmental data management systems for water and waste programs
Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and identify all future requirements that apply, or may apply, to the facility
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or other relevant field from an accredited institution
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred
Advanced degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or other relevant field from an accredited institution
2+ years of related experience
Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment
Broad knowledge of local, state, federal programs and regulations relating to environmental
Knowledge of Arconic EHS regulations and standards
Previous experience in acquisition of permits and interaction with regulators
Proficient in environmental data management systems
Experience with lean manufacturing techniques
Ability to effectively work with cross functional teams
Ability to lead and drive cultural change in a positive manner, influencing others on new concepts
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple and diverse work assignments with minimal direction
Skills such as: Written and oral communications skills in a variety of settings (shop floor, peers, plant leadership, etc.), problem solving, execution, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, customer focus, collaboration, building ownership and commitment, developing others, establishing and direction, drive for change, tenacity, obtaining organization support, and human relations
