Electrical Engineer: Arc Flash

Responsibilities

Conduct Arc Flash & Power System Studies: Perform detailed arc flash, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies in compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, and OSHA standards
System Modeling & Documentation: Develop and maintain accurate electrical system models and single-line diagrams using specialized software like SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower
Mitigation & Safety Implementation: Analyze study results to recommend engineering controls and administrative solutions (e.g., proper PPE levels, warning labels, updated maintenance procedures) to reduce incident energy levels and enhance safety protocols
Process Optimization: Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, and IT teams to identify process bottlenecks, diagnose electrical failures, and implement upgrades that improve uptime, quality, and reliability
Training & Collaboration: Support the development and delivery of electrical safety training programs for staff and collaborate with project managers to ensure data accuracy and successful project delivery
Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs, modifications, and installations adhere to relevant industry codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, ANSI, and UL

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
[5-10] years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with demonstrated experience in arc flash analysis and process improvement initiatives
Expertise in power system analysis software (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower)
Strong knowledge of safety regulations (NFPA 70E, OSHA)
Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills to effectively translate complex technical information to diverse audiences

Preferred

Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure is highly preferred
Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CESCP) are a plus
Experience with PLC/HMI programming, AC/DC drive systems, and data acquisition software is desirable
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting tools
