Responsibilities

Assemble, modify, and maintain mechanical components, prototypes, and test fixtures
Conduct mechanical and functional testing on components and systems according to established procedures
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., torque testers, vibration tables, thermal chambers)
Record and analyze test data; prepare detailed reports for engineering teams
Assist engineers in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in compliance with safety standards
Manage inventory of parts, tools, and consumables

Required

Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field
2+ years of experience in a mechanical or laboratory technician role
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, testing, and instrumentation
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time

Preferred

Familiarity with fiber optic cables and connectors
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers)
Basic understanding of data acquisition systems and test software
